- ➤ During an April welfare check prompted by a call that two children were left alone, Brownsville police fed a 2-year-old and a 10-year-old—officers later recognized after arresting Maria Isabel Platas for abandoning her children while ensuring they had food until their grandmother arrived. KRGV
- ➤ A former Primera commissioner Asael Saavedra was arrested on a DWI charge after his red Chevrolet Camaro struck a police unit at the intersection of Carver Road and Wilson Road on Saturday at around 2 a.m.—Saavedra fled the scene before he was located and the Texas Department of Public Safety will investigate the hit-and-run.
