- ➤ All four Rio Grande Valley counties—Hidalgo, Cameron, Willacy, and Starr—declared disaster status after historic rains caused severe flooding and over 200 rescues in Harlingen, prompting urgent requests for state aid. - ➤ Record rains have flooded roadways and stranded vehicles in the Rio Grande Valley, leaving hazards as crews work to clear debris and remove abandoned cars—TxDOT and DPS crews will restore safe access while urging motorists to slow down and avoid flooded roads. FOX RGV
- ➤ Dr. Maria‐Elena Giner of the US Section of the International Boundary and Water Commission said that teams are patrolling levees and pumping floodwaters with proper equipment to keep the Rio Grande Valley's floodways within design capacity.
