📰 Economy
According to a report released last Wednesday, the Port of Brownsville boosted Texas GDP by $11.9 billion and supported 101,073 jobs through trade in exports, imports, and petroleum products.
The port also announced $226.9 million in upgrades, including deepening Brazos Island Harbor to 52 feet.
🏛️ Government
At the State of the Region luncheon, Judge Eloy Vera said Starr County is growing with green energy investments, retail sites, and medical services including a plaza (set to open in 2026).
He added flood studies and road upgrades such as State Loop 195 are underway to connect the area.
