- ➤ The Rio Grande Valley Hispanic Chamber of Commerce held its 2025 meeting earlier this month at DoubleTree by Hilton McAllen and announced plans to support small businesses + host the State of the 956 Legislative Luncheon on Jan. 21 at ACE Center in Edinburg with senators Adam and Juan Hinojosa. ECONOMY NEWS
- ➤ Foreign Trade Zone No. 12 (FTZ 12) in Hidalgo County is in talks with Willacy County officials to extend its free trade services to Port Mansfield and support a local economic boost. County Judge Aurelio Guerra and county commissioners are exploring the opportunity amid new data center projects. Rio Grande Guardian
- ➤ Rose Benavidez of Starr County Industrial Foundation said billion-dollar investments are now routine with a retail project scheduled for Q1 or Q2 2026 and almost a billion dollars in renewable energy projects underway. A meeting with SpaceX tomorrow will explore new job opportunities at South Texas College. Rio Grande Guardian
- ➤ Killam Development held a ribbon cutting on Dec. 10 for Sharyland Business Park, a 175-acre project aimed at boosting job creation and economic growth in the Anzalduas Bridge area. Leaders from Mission and McAllen EDC praised the new development. Rio Grande Guardian
