- ➤ Brownsville crews are cleaning Oliveira Park after vandals left tire marks on the newly repainted basketball court; repairs may cost up to $7,000. The city will install surveillance cameras to help deter future incidents. KRGV
- ➤ Food Bank RGV opened a new $6 million facility that features an industrial cooler and freezer (funded by grants and donations) to double its produce storage and serve nearly 94,000 people weekly. KRGV
- ➤ Two Brownsville police officers helped a homeless man by buying him warm clothes on a cold morning (officers Rubio and Maldonado kept watch until he was dressed), and the kind act has gone viral on social media. KRGV
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Bobby Pulido, a congressional candidate, denied online claims that he defaced a Hollywood star by urinating on it, saying he only used a water bottle for a decade-old joke and filed his candidacy on Dec. 3. U.S. Rep. Monica De La Cruz filed for reelection on Dec. 8. MyRGV
