- ➤ San Benito CISD will break ground on its $24 million performing arts theater at Veterans Memorial Academy in January — the new building will have a 900-seat auditorium, lobby, and other spaces and is set to be completed in early 2028. The project follows years of design delays and cost increases, aiming to provide a modern center for student performances. MyRGV

- ➤ The UTRGV Vaqueros finished their inaugural season with a 33-14 win over the East Texas A&M Lions on Saturday at Robert and Janet Vackar Stadium— the game started after a delay of more than two and a half hours due to lightning.
