- ➤ Tejano icon Bobby Pulido was awarded the Latin Grammy for best Tejano album on Thursday for his live recording of the album 'Bobby Pulido and Friends Una Tuya y Una Mia'—his second win in the category. He retired from music last year to run for Texas' 15th Congressional District and said his award will help him serve South Texas. KRGV

- ➤ Families in the Valley still wait for full SNAP benefits as the government shutdown ends, and many worry that health care costs will rise next year—The Children's Defense Fund—Texas urges lawmakers to act now so that essential support for local children and families is maintained. HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ UTRGV's School of Nursing received nearly $53,000 in donated equipment from South Texas Health System on Wednesday—items such as ventilators, crash carts, and patient beds will be used in the new STHS Skills Lab to train about 20 nursing students weekly under the guidance of three professors. - ➤ Firefighters from the Mission Fire Department held a turkey frying demonstration to share safety tips for preventing cooking fires before Thanksgiving. They advised frying the turkey outdoors, keeping it at least 10 feet from homes, and monitoring the oil temperature between 350—400 degrees to reduce burn hazards. KRGV
