- ➤ County Judge Eddie Trevino, Junior released the 2026 Starbase Local Impact Report that showed the SpaceX launch facility added over $13 billion to the local economy—a 50 percent rise from last year. The report said Starbase generated more than $305 million in indirect taxes and supported over 24,000 local jobs. KURV

- ➤ Port Isabel Early College High School student Pedro Gomez works hard in class, on the football field, and as a band section leader. He serves on the student council and National Honor Society and plans to study forensic psychology at the University of Austin — his dedication inspires both teachers and family. KRGV
ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ Visitors on South Padre Island saw many jellyfish on the beach, and one visitor said a moon jellyfish sting caused a sharp pain. Experts at the Gladys Porter Zoo explained that the jellyfish bloom is normal during adult development—using warm water and vinegar can ease any irritation. KRGV
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Brownsville city leaders broke ground on the Buena Vida Redevelopment site to add 212 affordable housing units for low-income families, elderly residents and domestic violence survivors. A $1.7 million grant supports the $19.5 million project that will be completed by 2027. KRGV
