- ➤ On Saturday, the San Perlita Fire Department held its 10th annual cook-off where pit-masters, including the San Perlita High School ACE BBQ Team’s Smoking Outlaws, competed to raise funds for truck maintenance and building repairs — and support school fundraisers. Proceeds from the event will benefit the department’s ongoing operations. KRGV
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ SpaceX is launching its Starship today from its Cameron County site in a 75-minute window starting at 6:15 p.m.—the launch will stress-test the heatshield and simulate a return approach while Cameron County Judge Eddie Treviño, Jr. ordered Boca Chica Beach and State Highway 4 to close from FM 1419 to the beach from noon to 10 p.m. CT.
