BUSINESS NEWS

  • SpaceX plans its 11th test flight of the Starship rocket to launch as early as Monday, Oct. 13 at 6:15 p.m. CT from Starbase — the flight includes key experiments and changes to help the rocket’s upper stage return in future tests.  KRGV
  • CIL Capital held a groundbreaking ceremony for Anchor Industrial on Texas 48 near the Port of Brownsville, where officials said the 181,000 square foot plant will be built by Martín Anzaldúa for a $20 million project + is expected to create over 120 jobs in the area. The facility is planned to open within the next eight months.  Rio Grande Guardian
  • Texas Agriculture Commissioner Sid Miller announced Friday that the Santa Rosa sugar mill in Cameron County will reopen next year. The plant operated for 51 years under Rio Grande Valley Sugar Growers Incorporated and will relaunch in four stages — including land acquisition, upgraded equipment and new facilities— under its new operation as Santa Rosa Sugar LLC.  KURV

  • Before the sun rises, Brownsville’s Hotshot Crew from the Department of Engineering and Public Works starts cleaning downtown at 4:30 a.m. every weekday by emptying trash bins, sweeping sidewalks, and clearing debris from a four block area—ensuring streets remain safe and welcoming for everyone.  City of Brownsville
