GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Today, the PSJA ISD Police Department’s 25 officers and 30 guardians will train year-round with new safety tools, including ballistic shields and laser weapons training, after state mandates were introduced following the 2022 massacre at Robb Elementary. They will use a facility — designed to mimic a school hallway with eight classrooms — for realistic drills. KRGV
- ➤ Beginning in January 2026, Brownsville homeowners must have a recycling bin and pay a $5 monthly fee on their utility bill under a new city program—approved in August—that contracts Redfish Recycling for seven years to reduce litter and extend the landfill's life.
