  • BCIC has unveiled an ambitious plan for 2025–2029 to shape Brownsville’s future—its blueprint sets the stage for key projects like a new animal care summit and upgrades to city services.   • County Judge Eddie Treviño, Jr. and Commissioners Sofia C. Benavides, Joey Lopez, David A. Garza, and Gus Ruiz will soon vote on a proposed tax rate—details have been posted on the official county notice for public review.  Cameron County
  • Brownsville has secured $27.8M for intelligent transportation upgrades—funds that will modernize traffic systems and improve road safety across the city.  City of Brownsville
  • County Judge Eddie Treviño, Jr. has ordered the temporary closure of Boca Chica Beach and a section of State Highway 4 today from 11:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. to protect public health and safety during planned SpaceX testing—SpaceX and law enforcement are coordinating to enforce a safety zone with checkpoints for local residents.  Cameron County

HEALTH NEWS

  • DHR Health hosted its 19th annual Fishing for Hope tournament on Aug. 23, where 180 boats and anglers fished for red fish and speckled trout to raise a little more than $500,000 for Hope Family Health Center (all funds support uninsured patients).
