- ➤ Palm Valley Animal Shelter says nearly 500 dogs need homes after taking in more than 50 dogs from an Edinburg hoarding case and closing its Trenton location—this overcrowding has led the shelter to offer free adoptions with a $25 fee only if the pet is not yet spayed or neutered. A groundbreaking ceremony will be held Monday at 28495 State Park Road 100-North—north of Andy Bowie Park, and construction will finish early to mid-summer so the access will be closed until then.
