  • Brownsville's Esperanza Park reopened on Thursday after a year and a half of renovations and now features a splash pad, butterfly garden, soccer field, and walking trail—most of the more than $2 million project was paid for by state grants—and gives residents a new spot to enjoy outdoor activities.  KRGV

CRIME NEWS

  • In Brownsville, a domestic dispute escalated into an officer-involved shooting on Monday evening—23-year-old Nora Zuniga and 35-year-old Bernardo Pedraza died as officers returned fire and Texas Rangers launched an investigation.  FOX RGV
  • Border Patrol agents executed a court-approved search warrant in Mission mobile home park near Stewart Road and Business 83 in the early morning to investigate reports of undocumented residents — officials have not confirmed any detentions or detailed outcomes.  FOX RGV
  • Brownsville Police are asking for help finding Roberto Miguel Sosa— a 35-year-old man with mental disabilities last seen near Oasis Drive in a gray 2021 Nissan Titan— who went missing yesterday.  FOX RGV

  • The Cameron County Precinct 4 Constable's Office is restarting its bike patrol to help build trust with local residents — deputies will ride once or twice a week to be more visible and address community concerns.  KRGV

  • Astros’ Jose Altuve helped his team win today by getting four hits including a home run against the Nationals as they prepare for a series in Boston. In Brownsville, former Liga MX midfielder Damian Alvarez is hosting a soccer clinic for children aged 6 to 14 that concludes tomorrow evening — the program aims to inspire young talent.  FOX RGV
