  • Prairie View A&M Extension hosted a week-long 2025 BID Academy Summer Sprint at the eBridge Center for Business and Commercialization in association with Brownsville Community Improvement Corporation where 22 small businesses graduated to earn HUD certification. CRIME NEWS

  • Two men were arrested on Sunday for brandishing a firearm near the Jaime Zapata boat ramp—Esteban Luis Angel Macias discharged an AR-style rifle while Leonardo Perez led a police chase along SH 48 before stopping about half a mile east—and no injuries were reported.  ValleyCentral

  • Congresswoman Monica De La Cruz and Agriculture Commissioner Sid Miller announced a new federal drought relief program in Mission—nearly 2,000 approved applicants will share 280 million dollars under the 1944 Water Treaty Agricultural Assistance Program as checks will start arriving Wednesday.  KURV
  • The Brownsville Police Department will join other law enforcement agencies in Texas in Operation Slow Down—a statewide campaign aimed at reducing speed-related crashes.  City of Brownsville

HEALTH NEWS

  • Yesterday, the Breast Imaging Center at Valley Regional Medical Center in Brownsville began operating as Solis Mammography and expanded access to advanced 3D breast imaging with AI to help detect cancer early. The center is located at (100 E. Alton Gloor Blvd., Suite 320, Building C) and is now accepting new patients.  ValleyCentral
