- ➤ A bucket lift hauled by a van caused a large traffic jam near Sunrise Mall early Monday when the driver lost control and had a minor collision with a semi-truck—Brownsville firefighters said there are no injuries and the jam should clear in about 30 minutes. ValleyCentral

- ➤ South Padre Island City Council Member Kerry Schwartz urged the council to create an Eco Center District to boost ecotourism—he pointed to local attractions like the World Birding Center and Sea Turtle Rescue.
