- ➤ Brownsville ISD approved a $609 million operating budget for the 2025-2026 school year on Thursday, June 27, which increases teacher and staff pay with a new teacher starting salary set at $56,000. - ➤ Angelina Resendiz, a Brownsville Navy sailor who went missing from Norfolk in April and was later found off base, had her funeral on Friday at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints on Price Road—she will receive military honors with a 21-gun salute and ceremonial flag folding after the service. A public vigil is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m. at the Brownsville events center. KRGV
