- ➤ On June 16th, a fire destroyed the home of a Los Fresnos family, leaving bus driver Maria Cantu and her disabled husband homeless as they now live with their daughter and seek community help — the Los Fresnos Fire Department took two hours to control the blaze. KRGV

- ➤ Lone Star National Bank received a $262,944 Skills Development Fund grant from the Texas Workforce Commission to train 317 employees in financial services operations, customer service, cybersecurity awareness and regulatory compliance. - ➤ At the Delta Area Summit held on June 17 at the Edcouch-Elsa ISD Technology Building, water expert Jim Darling, chair of the Region M Rio Grande Regional Water Planning Group, said cities have about 22% of water in their reservoirs while farmers have less than 10% with no new water rights granted recently. He added that the group is thinking of asking for rules to get more water from the Edwards Aquifer—though no board action has been approved yet—to help ease the water shortage. Rio Grande Guardian
