  • Norma Uribe, the primary suspect in the 2022 murder of Jose Angel Bravo, declined a 27-year plea deal at the Cameron County Courthouse this morning—he faces charges of murder and evading arrest and his trial will continue tomorrow.  FOX RGV

  • Futuro RGV selected two students—Andrea Garcia and Alexandria Garza—to receive a $1,000 scholarship each during an awards ceremony at Casa de Palmas Hotel today.   • City officials in Brownsville urge residents to clear drains ahead of heavier rain — this step aims to prevent flooding — and help stormwater systems work properly.  City of Brownsville
  • Today, the Cameron County Commissioners’ Court met to review nearly 100 public comments on a request from the City of South Padre Island to expand its convention center (comments raised concerns about the loss of native bird habitats); the court voted to deny the request as presented and encouraged the city to develop alternative plans that balance growth with conservation.  Cameron County

  • The Progreso High School boys' soccer program was put on probation by the UIL for two years yesterday—after complaints of an ineligible player—which forced the team to forfeit all playoff games last season. Coach Damian Magallan was also reprimanded and received a three-game suspension.  KURV
