  • On June 13, Border Patrol agents stopped a John Deere tractor near Los Indios, seizing 15.5 pounds of cocaine valued at $496K+ arresting one person when a K+9 dog alerted officers to six small packages suspected to contain narcotics.  KRGV
  • Brownsville authorities arrested Juan Jose Delgado on Thursday for allegedly stealing about $300,000 from elderly residents by offering to help secure federal grants and using their personal information to obtain loans without their consent.  KURV

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Starting June 26, Rio Grande Valley law enforcement will boost patrols to support TXDOT's Summer Sober campaign designed to deter drunk driving—over 1,000 deaths occurred in alcohol-related crashes last year, and patrols will continue through July 13.  KRGV
  • Commissioner John Wood said the Port of Brownsville is investing over $640 million to upgrade roads, docks and equipment to meet modern global trade demands and improve cargo operations. The Brazos Island Harbor Channel Improvement Project will deepen the ship channel to 52 feet by mid-2026 — a move that will boost regional trade and create jobs.  Rio Grande Guardian
