- ➤ Pastors from churches across the Rio Grande Valley held Praise on Padre at Beach Water Park on South Padre Island last Saturday, June 14 — where hundreds received salvation and baptism. Thousands attended the event — joining live worship and enjoying water slides and a lazy river to celebrate their renewed faith. Rio Grande Guardian
CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ In Donna, a Rio Grande Valley artist painted a mural called Love Thy Neighbor that shows Jesus reaching out to an ICE agent to encourage dialogue over immigration laws amid recent raids. Alexandro Gregoria worked more than 18 hours on the mural—aiming to remind viewers that even those in uniform share a caring heart. KRGV
ECONOMY NEWS
- ➤ On June 14, LULAC Council members protested outside San Benito city hall to oppose federal ICE raids that they said hurt the local economy and kept workers from going to work. Coordinator Elias Cantu said the raids also made local businesses struggle to find trained workers as families feared deportation. Rio Grande Guardian
