- ➤ On May 22nd, 2025, Brownsville held a groundbreaking ceremony for the Greater Brownsville Tech District on FM 511 between Old Alice Road and Paredes Line Road—an initial 86-acre phase will support space, energy, and advanced manufacturing sectors. GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Texas lawmakers approved a bill on Saturday that would require every public school classroom to hang a 16-by-20-inch poster of the Ten Commandments; the final vote will go to Governor Greg Abbott for signing if it passes soon. Some critics say the measure could lead to a legal fight over church and state rules. KURV
- ➤ Texas lawmakers spent over two hours debating before passing Senate Bill 10 on Saturday that would require every public school classroom to display the Ten Commandments — the bill passed 88 to 49 despite opposition and a rejection to allow school boards a vote on adding other religious texts.
