- ➤ On its 89th anniversary, the Port of Brownsville moved to 41st in U.S. maritime port rankings after handling 11.2 million tons of cargo and increasing vessel calls by 46% to 2,561 in 2023. The port will finish deepening its channel to 52 feet by 2026 and benefit from investments like the Rio Grande LNG project that brought new jobs and growth—impacting the regional economy.
