Here's your local news at a glance for Wednesday, the 13th of May.
Good morning, Brownsville.
📰 Economy
A ticket bought at Gordon's Bait and Tackle matched six numbers in last November's Lotto Texas drawing and was claimed on May 8 by a South Dakota company just before it expired (the buyer chose the cash option, reducing the jackpot to under $44 million before taxes).
🏛️ Government
San Benito officials and residents dedicated a portion of State Highway 345 as the Lieutenant Milton Resendez Memorial Highway to honor the fallen officer who served 30 years and was shot in October 2023.
The change, pushed by state Rep. Janie Lopez, now stands as a daily reminder to local drivers.
