- ➤ Crews with the Brownsville Fire Department responded to a fire at the Border Apartments in the 300 block of Media Luna Road Monday morning—residents were evacuated, no injuries were reported, and authorities blocked Media Luna and frontage roads. KRGV

- ➤ County economic director Ramiro Aleman said truck crossings at Los Indios Free Trade Bridge increased 150 percent over the past year during RGV Startup Week in downtown Brownsville—he added that new overweight and oversized corridors and on-site cold storage are set to boost future industrial growth. - ➤ Retired astronaut Mike Fossum, who grew up in the Valley, will speak at STEM Nation 2025 on Tuesday, May 20 at Bert Ogden Arena—he will share his experiences from NASA to encourage local students to consider careers in science, technology, engineering, and math. Rio Grande Guardian

- ➤ Federal agents reported just over 8,000 arrests in April at the southwest border while catching about 280 people a day crossing from Mexico—this marks a 93 percent drop from last year as a new report shows that only five illegal immigrants were allowed temporary entry under special interest court cases.
