  • An 18-year-old was arrested in Donna after allegedly driving a stolen Jeep Gladiator reported missing in Brownsville and faces charges of unauthorized use of a vehicle, evading arrest—resisting arrest.  KURV
  • Brownsville police are seeking a person of interest in connection with an aggravated robbery at Family Dollar on the 4400 block of Paredes Line Rd — the suspect reportedly assaulted a store employee and officials ask anyone with information to call Brownsville Crime Stoppers at 956-546-8477.  ValleyCentral
  • Three armored truck workers were arrested on Tuesday after allegedly planning to steal a money bag worth $115,240 from their company during a lunch break+ police said one suspect remains jailed while the other two have been released on bond.  ValleyCentral

ECONOMY NEWS

  • During RGV StartUp Week, panelists Luis Bazan, director of the Pharr International Bridge, and Antonio Rodriguez, director of cargo services and foreign trade zone administrator at the Port of Brownsville, spoke at the Pharr Global Business Hub—Bazan explained the timeline to complete a second span at the bridge while Rodriguez discussed the potential to transform the port into a container facility.  Rio Grande Guardian

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Aida Coronado — the executive vice president for DHR Health Brownsville — was appointed by Gov. Greg Abbott to the Texas Workforce Investment Council. She will work with council members to plan and review state workforce programs until her term expires on September 1.  Rio Grande Guardian
  • Texas lawmakers are considering House Bill 1960 that would rename part of State Highway 345 for former San Benito Police Lieutenant Milton Resendez, who died in October 2023 when he was shot during a police pursuit. The bill is under consideration in the House Transportation Committee.  KURV
