- ➤ Brownsville approved new taxi rates — nearly doubling fares from $3.50 to $6 — to help drivers cover rising costs such as gas, maintenance and insurance. Drivers are now urging the city to review additional operating fees. KRGV

- ➤ Magpie, a 10-month-old lab mix, is helping Sea Turtle Inc. on South Padre Island locate hidden sea turtle nests for wildlife conservation. She uses her keen sense of smell to find turtle eggs quickly and takes breaks to rest between searches. KRGV

- ➤ Cameron County will hold a ceremony to dedicate new parking spaces for veterans, with County Judge Eddie Treviño, Jr. and four commissioners in attendance. Residents are invited to join the event as a local tribute to service members. Cameron County
- ➤ International Boulevard along State Highway Four between I-69E and Wilson Street was set to reopen today but has been delayed again due to equipment issues — officials now expect it to open next week in Brownsville. KURV
