  • Brownsville officials and the Brownsville Historical Association approved a plan to move the historic Neale House from Texas Southmost College to Linear Park for full restoration — a $404,257 contract with Dodson House Moving LLC has been awarded and work is set to start soon lasting six to eight weeks.  MyRGV

BUSINESS NEWS

  • Rich Products’ Brownsville plant, which has operated since 1993, employs 600 workers and added robotic palletizers to speed up frozen food production such as shrimp for national supermarkets and chain restaurants. It is the only plant that processes shrimp (half wild-caught, half from South America).  Rio Grande Guardian

ECONOMY NEWS

  • Texas earned Site Selection magazine’s Governor’s Cup for the 14th consecutive year after drawing 1,406 projects and over 42,000 new jobs in 2025. Robust policies plus major hubs like Houston, Dallas-Fort Worth, and Austin continue to drive the state’s economic growth.  Rio Grande Guardian

  • County Judge Eddie Treviño, Jr. and local commissioners will host the ribbon cutting ceremony at Bejarano McFarland Memorial Park later today, highlighting the park as a new community gathering spot and inviting residents to explore its features.  Cameron County
  • State Sen. Juan Hinojosa from McAllen urged U.S. Agriculture to reinstate the $7.4 million grant for HOPE for Small Farm Sustainability, which trains families in farming skills in the Rio Grande Valley — a key support as local farmland declines.  Rio Grande Guardian
