- ➤ The City of South Padre Island Environmental Health Services Department will host an Earth Day E-Waste Recycling Event from 8 to 11 a.m. on Saturday, April 19 at the community center (4501 Padre Boulevard) to help residents safely dispose of unwanted electronics. ValleyCentral

- ➤ Esteban (Steve) Guerra, chairman of the Brownsville Navigation District, spoke on April 10 at the Westin Galleria in Houston and said the Port of Brownsville has grown as a hub that created jobs and delivered a $12 billion boost in 2023 from trade and investment. He said new plans to deepen the channel that stretches for 17 miles and attract big projects like NextDecade's Rio Grande LNG project will help our region move forward. Rio Grande Guardian
