- ➤ The Harmony Tigers from Harmony Science Academy–Brownsville qualified for the VEX Robotics World Championship in St. Louis when they advanced at a regional competition in Edinburg on March 10. The six middle school students seek support for travel expenses ahead of the competition set for April 25–27. KRGV
- ➤ The State Board of Education is advancing a new required reading list that includes Bible stories (like David versus Goliath) many say are key to understanding cultural roots. Supporters say the measure is uncontroversial and hope it will help kids learn where common phrases come from. KURV

- ➤ Texas Agriculture Commissioner Sid Miller warned ranchers after the New World screwworm fly was detected in Nuevo Leon, 90 miles from the border last Friday + the USDA opened a facility in Hidalgo County to produce sterile male flies to combat the threat. KURV
