- ➤ Alliance Action Sports Experts, a firm from Austria that built over 200 pump tracks in Europe, is nearly finished constructing its first U.S. pump track at Pedro 'Pete' Benavides Park just east of Brownsville. The 492-foot asphalt track with solar-powered lights is part of park improvements that include new mountain bike trails and was funded with $424,000 in federal money (American Rescue Plan Act). MyRGV
CRIME NEWS
- ➤ Three juveniles were arrested by the Cameron County Sheriff's Office in connection with two aggravated robberies at a Dollar General in Harlingen—two on March 7 and one on April 9—and all are facing charges. KRGV
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ On April 10th, 2025, Cameron County law officials spoke to Rivera Early College High School seniors urging them to celebrate graduation free from alcohol & drugs after a staged DWI accident reenactment that showed one death and two near fatalities. The speakers warned that one mistake on the road could lead to tragic loss & long court battles for families. MyRGV
- ➤ Students at Donna North High School are running an animal clinic program this weekend that offers low-cost spay and neuter services for pets in a partnership with Yaqui Animal Rescue + Hidalgo County. The school’s Animal Science Room has been turned into a surgical center with a goal of getting 250 pets altered after a year of fundraising. KRGV

- ➤ Mexico’s President Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo visited flood victims in Reynosa on Friday—spending time with affected families—to show support amid the recent floods. KRGV
