  • Cameron County is hosting a ribbon cutting today at 10:00 a.m. at Bejarano-McFarland Memorial Park at 235 E. Michigan St. in Port Isabel. The park, part of a $2.6 million Phase I project, features a splash pad, playground, solar-lit trails, and more updates with future investments planned.  Cameron County

ECONOMY NEWS

  • At a COSTEP event in Brownsville, the Harlingen Economic Development Corporation's executive director (Orlando Campos) spoke about his group's work to connect local suppliers with ANAPSA from Mexico. A second gathering was held in McAllen.  Rio Grande Guardian

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Brownsville ISD placed Jesus Chavez on administrative leave after a 5–2 board vote yesterday — he had already announced he would not renew his contract and Alma Benevidez will serve as interim superintendent.  KURV
  • William Steele will host monthly AI workshops at the eBridge Center in downtown Brownsville to teach business owners how to automate processes — the entry-level session will offer hands-on guidance before specialized classes follow.  Rio Grande Guardian
  • South Texas ISD named Sandra Garza Ochoa as its sole finalist for superintendent on Tuesday — she has led Edcouch-Elsa since last year. The board will vote on her contract offer on April 29th.  KURV
