- ➤ At 5:02 a.m. on April 5, Brownsville resident Edgar Alberto Martinez drove his black Ford Focus north on FM 1419 south of Alaska Road, veered left, skidded off the road, and crashed into a tree—he was pronounced dead at the scene as the Texas Department of Public Safety investigates the incident. - ➤ San Benito police are asking residents for help identifying a suspect caught on camera loading a stolen package into the trunk of a white Toyota Camry and fleeing the scene—investigators believe he may be working with an accomplice and are reviewing footage for additional leads. FOX RGV
- ➤ 20-year-old Kyle Fernandez was arrested after he allegedly used a threatening note that said 'This is a robbery' and claimed to have a gun during a robbery at Los Pinos Hardware Store on Conway Avenue; deputies recovered stolen cash and found a hammer at about 1:45 p.m. FOX RGV
