  • A La Feria homeowner, Arturo Gonzalez, saw his home on Tim Garcia Street nearly destroyed by an overnight fire that burned 85% of the property—firefighters responded quickly with no injuries reported while an investigation continues and neighbors plan to help.  FOX RGV

CRIME NEWS

  • Authorities arrested 32-year-old Leeroy Luna in Columbus in connection with the shooting death of a 16-year-old teen in a drug deal gone wrong in Donna—he was extradited to Hidalgo County and arraigned with a $1 million bond after the teen died on January 25.  KRGV
  • Brownsville police arrested 22-year-old Oscar Rodarte and 19-year-old Ricardo Garza Jr.—Rodarte had an active warrant from a San Benito shooting—on Thursday after an aggravated robbery at First Cash Pawn on Southmost Boulevard, and both now face multiple charges including aggravated assault and theft of a firearm.  KRGV
  • U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers seized 110 packages of cocaine worth $3.6 million from a semi-trailer at Roma International Bridge—Roma Police Department now leads an investigation into the smuggling operation.  FOX RGV
