- ➤ UTRGV President Guy Bailey received the Educational Champion Award for a 10-year partnership with Teach for America that helped place 1,800 teachers in local classrooms. The program recently welcomed 19 UTRGV alumni starting their first year teaching (a strong local effort to improve education). MyRGV
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Brownsville city leaders unveiled a 10-year parks master plan to expand walking trails and add splash pads to Cabler and Oliveira Parks. The water amenities will be finished by mid-June — three other parks will get new playground sets. KRGV
- ➤ The FERC will hold two scoping sessions on March 24 and 25 from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Port Isabel Event & Cultural Center to gather public input on a proposed train 6 expansion at Rio Grande LNG that could boost capacity to 48 million metric tons per year. MyRGV
