- ➤ Cameron County Regional Mobility Authority Executive Director Pete Sepulveda said the Old Alice Road project will reconstruct and widen the roadway into a paved road with four lanes, shoulders and sidewalks to connect Los Fresnos with Brownsville Sports Park. He said environmental clearance will be secured in less than 30 days — and a $2 million funding gap remains for the $40 million project. Rio Grande Guardian
- ➤ Pete Sepulveda of the regional mobility authority said at a Brownsville meeting that the FM 1846-Williams Road project in San Benito will expand the TXDOT roadway from Business 77 to San Jose Ranch Road from two to four lanes and build a new road south of I-69E that will eventually connect to FM 106 and a road from Edinburg—improving local transportation links. - ➤ At the Brownsville Events Center, Pete Sepulveda updated on plans for the FM 509 project—a three-mile extension costing $15.9 million—that will redirect traffic north to link with the interstate. He said that the project is in early planning with an environmental document and schematic being developed using TxDOT funds. Rio Grande Guardian
- ➤ Pete Sepulveda of the Cameron County Regional Mobility Authority said the Dana Avenue project will expand a two-lane road with a continuous left turn lane and full sidewalks to connect FM 802 Ruben Torres and FM 3248 in Brownsville. Environmental clearance from TxDOT was received, and construction will start in the next 12 to 15 months despite a shortfall in federal funds — the upgrade is aimed at making the area safer for schools, residences, and businesses. - ➤ Cameron County Regional Mobility Authority’s Pete Sepulveda gave an update on the FM 509-BUS 77-FM 508 project that runs from Business 77 in San Benito and Harlingen to FM 508 by the Port of Harlingen—today the road is a two-lane route with potential for four lanes. The project will widen and rebuild 6.85 miles of road, and the City of Harlingen will partner with TxDOT to complete environmental plans—funding is partly in place. Rio Grande Guardian
