- ➤ La Joya ISD’s board voted on Wednesday to close four schools and repurpose one as a Choice Career Academy Middle School for the 2026 to 2027 school year. The decision, driven by enrollment declines and fiscal needs, will reinvest up to $27.2 million in academic and student support services (per a district press release). MyRGV

- ➤ North Houston Pole Line has closed the Jaime J. Zapata Memorial Boat Ramp off Highway 48 for AEP's overhead wire installation, which began Thursday, Jan. 22 and will continue through Friday, Jan. 30.
